11-11-11 Honour Queen Liliʻuokalani

Queen Liliʻuokalani of Hawaii 1838-1917

As we all know 11-11 is a most significant day worldwide as a day to reflect on the tragic events of war and loss. Certain things converge on this day and the message of common ancestries speaks louder than political and economic might.

We are not to be merely saddened and resigned to a perpetual cycle of waste, exploitation, destruction and oppression done by one to another ~ nor do we live with self torment and pity ~ rather the message is that we must rise together in reconciliation and  occupy our full intelligence, gifts and heart ~ perhaps in a newness unimagined, yet nevertheless, demanded of us.

Now, this morning in Hawaiʻi, as the rain lightly falls in Honolulu, 11-11-11 is profound.

As global corporate CEOs rail our supposed heads of state to the closed-door APEC table in Oahu some local people, having regard to truth and justice, will assemble in remembrance of a dearly beloved queen ~ Queen Liliʻuokalani. Please come and join with Kanaka Moli.

The queen died on November 11, 1917 having endured her own ouster and imprisonment by a conspiracy of white male businessmen and the illegal mockery of Annexation done by U.S.A. President McKinley in 1898. The overthrow was criminal; President Bill Clinton apologized for that in Public Law 103-150 in 1993. And Annexation is a flawed in every respect and Hawaii`s statehood, economy and ecology stand on this house of cards.

People will assemble at 5:00 pm at the Kahi Hali`a Aloha burial mound in Waikiki, corner of Kalakaua and Kapahulu Avenues (zoo entrance and Gandhi statue).

APEC fixes Honolulu homeless – or is it Yes Men?

When The Yes Men cook up a wacky political prank – like dressing in a gold suit with giant inflatable phallus (to control “remote” labor) or crafting the Halliburton “surviva-ball” to roll around corporate gatherings, they’re excited. It’s fun to concoct schemes that clarify the anti-human, anti-planet agendas of the World Trade Organization and the multinational corporations it represents.

Then the scheme plays out. And corporate bigwigs are not shocked by the idea, say, that workers in developing nations are essentially slaves. Or that starvation can be addressed by piping recycled cheeseburger shit to developing nations. Or that human victims of global warming can be turned into fuel.

The response (or lack thereof) of intelligent, educated people baffles The Yes Men. Read more →

Welcome

E komo mai! Welcome!

Occupy APEC promotes activities that educate people about the truth of APEC. This includes protests and proactive events that can bring urgent ecological and economic change of sustainability and for which APEC is a major stumbling block.

Large corporate interests dominate APEC using 21 Government heads as their proxies. They engender the anti-democratic movement of Globalization whereby the people (the 99%), are physically and intellectually barricaded out and life and natural resources are their mere commodity.

Those that contribute to the website and other friends behind the scenes highly value people’s individual and combined creativity and intelligence. It’s the chains of ignorance that enable domination and prejudice.

We want to occupy APEC with positive awareness, creativity, benevolence, truth and aloha. We promote and act with nonviolence. We support media interest and pro-active projects especially community art and cultural happenings. We promote The Lovelink Project in it’s effort to facilitate an open art event during APEC to foster sustainability. Read more →
